The mission of Wildlife A.C.T. Fund Trust is to conserve threatened and endangered African wildlife species. The organization was established in January, 2010. The objectives of the organization are:

• Monitor populations of threatened and endangered species.

• Intervene to aid injured individuals of threatened and endangered species.

• Stabilize threatened and endangered species populations.

• Aid in the reintroduction of threatened and endangered species to areas where they have been extirpated within their original range.

 • Promote the creation of wildlife corridors between existing endangered species populations.

• Research endangered species to improve understanding of their conservation needs.

• Educate rural communities bordering endangered species populations to improve their understanding of the importance of biodiversity conservation and engender a stewardship perspective.

• Involve all stakeholders to promote ways for adjacent rural communities to benefit from biodiversity conservation.

The Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund supports Wildlife ACT Fund's rhinoceros conservation project at the Somkhanda Game Reserve: the “Somkhanda Community Conservation Project.” The primary target species of this project is the black rhinoceros. The secondary target species is the white rhinoceros. There are no other endangered species in this reserve yet. Both rhino species are imperiled by poaching activities, most of which originate in or involve local community members. Law enforcement is handled by the provincial parks authority. The Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation Fund supports the below activities of the Somkhanda Community Conservation Project:

• Rhino monitoring and intervention

• Community conservation jobs training and creation

• Community rhino conservation education
