Mohamed bin Zayed Species project number 13256615

Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation (Project No. 13256615) - Tonkin snub-nosed monkey - Awarded $12,000 on November 16, 2013

Field survey and genetic data will be used to assess current species viability and feasibility of active population translocation. I will carry out census survey to provide current population size. Population structure, genetic variability, inbreeding, and extinction risk using genetic information will also be examined. Quantitative data (population size and first information on genetic variability) will become available for local government agency, researchers, and conservationists to assess feasibility of active translocation. Most importantly, this project will provide continued support toward local environment stewardship and empowerment by raising awareness of species and habitat in local communities.
