Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation (Project No. 13057579) - Xenophrys parallela - Awarded $4,500 on December 23, 2013
23-12-2013 - Xenophrys parallela

Xenophrys parallela is known only from the type locality, at 1,289-1,320m asl, at Batang Sarasah, Lubuk Selasih, near Solok, West Sumatra, Indonesia. But today that place has became to tea garden and that make distrubed for this spesies. We want to search existence this spesies from holotype and another place based on ecology data spesies first found and ecology data Megophrys group.

Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation (Project No. 13057540) - Rana arborícola del Socopó - Awarded $2,550 on December 23, 2013
23-12-2013 - Rana arborícola del Socopó

We want to improve occurrence probability estimates, and evaluate habitat conditions of Dendropsophus amicorum, an endemic and data deficient amphibian species from Venezuela. We will implement visual encounter, and automatic recorder surveys in nocturnal line-transects at their type locality, Cerro Socopó, which is a small and isolated mountain that represents a relict of non-protected cloud forest at central-west region of the country.

Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation (Project No. 13057819) - North african fire salamander - Awarded $4,000 on December 23, 2013
23-12-2013 - North african fire salamander

Beni Snassen's Fire Salamander was discovered in 2007 and is strictly localized on the Beni Snassen Massif (North-eastern Morocco). In this massif its habitat is threatened by habitat loss, due to severe overgrazing and deforestation. This species is very rare and it is possible that only few hundreds of adults remain in the wild. For this reason immediate conservation actions should be started.

Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation (Project No. 13056409) - Monte Iberia Dwarf frog - Awarded $3,000 on December 23, 2013
23-12-2013 - Monte Iberia Dwarf frog

Five of the world smallest frogs live in Cuba, the largest island in the Caribbean sea. All these species are threatened, most are naturally restricted to small areas with pristine forests. Considering the scarce information on these frogs, this project aims to get updated information on distribution, abundance and status of Eleutherodactylus iberia, E. jaumei, E. cubanus, E. orientalis and E. limbatus.

23-12-2013 - Locust Coqui (Eng), Coqui Martillito (Spanish)

This project is a baseline amphibian survey of 700 acres of second-growth forest in Patillas, Puerto Rico. The project site consists of two remote mountain valleys that have never been surveyed for amphibians.

Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation (Project No. 13257902) - Cerrobravo Frog - Awarded $6,500 on December 23, 2013
23-12-2013 - Cerrobravo Frog

Cerrobravo frog is known only from the type locality at the volcano Cerrobravo of Tolima, on the eastern slope of the Cordillera Central, Colombia. This frog is critically endangered due to habitat destruction, restricted distribution and agricultural development. Therefore we propose to research about distribution and biology in order to suggest strategies for its conservation.

Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation (Project No. 13056734) - Somuncura frog - Awarded $5,000 on September 30, 2013
30-09-2013 - Somuncura frog

The Valcheta frog (Pleurodema somuncurensis) is a Critically Endangered species that inhabits the thermal springs of the Valcheta stream (Somuncura plateau, Patagonia-Argentina). With a distributional range of less than 20km2, this species are facing several threats that make its population in deline. The goal of this project is to promote effective conservation of the Valcheta frog and its habitat.

Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation (Project No. 13256807) - Red-bellied toad - Awarded $10,000 on September 30, 2013
30-09-2013 - Red-bellied toad

Melanophryniscus admirabilis is a splendid, Critically Endangered species, with a highly restricted distribution, endemic to one location. The species distribution is located in a region particularly vulnerable. Our project aims to generate data on population size, reproductive ecology and genetic variability and structure, which are key factors to establish management priorities and standards procedures for monitoring this highly threatened ...
