The impact of disturbed habitat on Archey’s frog (Leioplelma archeyi) microhabitat use
The purpose of this research is to gather empirical information about Archey’s frogs (Leiopelma archeyi) to improve our understanding of how the amphibians use habitat components within their home ranges.
- We are gathering data on are the key habitat features and vegetation types that indicate likely frog presence
- How frog populations respond to historic and current disturbance
- Archey’s frog distribution and abundance within the Coromandel Peninsula
- Disturbance impacts on individual Archey's frog body condition
This study will help to make informed decisions regarding habitat clearance, disturbance and management in areas known to have suitable vegetation to sustain populations of Archey’s frog.
