Conservation of Ashy Red Colobus Monkeys in Tanzania through Habitat monitoring
The overall objectives of the project is to promote and sustain the conservation initiatives of the Ashy Red colobus in Mbuzi and Mbizi forests through: Research and monitoring to add in the knowledge on population status of Ashy red colobus: • To evaluate on the habitat quality for Ashy red colobus through vegetation survey • To evaluate on the population status of target species through census • To implement low-cost monitoring scheme for Ashy red colobus population and its habitat To reduce anthropogenic pressure and interference to the forests from adjacent communities through: • In collaboration with other stakeholders to promote the use of alternative source of fuel and energy and sustainable use of forest resources. • To promote and assists in establishing environmental friendly projects (such as beekeeping) as an alternative source of income to adjacent communities.
