Continent: Oceania
Country: Australia
Grant Amount: $13,000
Awarded Date: June 16, 2023
After the fires: habitat and threats to the Bearded Stonewort (Lychnothamnus barbatus) in Australia
This project consists of survey work in suitable habitat and potential habitat to locate any additional populations/occurrences/remnants. We will then be able to more precisely assess population size, distribution, ecological requirements and the relative impacts of threatening processes. Gatherings of the plant will provide material to assist in the investigation of the precise taxonomic relationship between local populations of Lychnothamnus barbatus and overseas populations (undertaken by Ken Karol of NYBG) including DNA marker analysis.
