COVID pandemic has ceased ecotourism revenue for Fundación Jocotoco's reserve network resulting in a financial deficit for operation costs.

The COVID crisis has also compromised the food security of local communities around our reserves, which increases the risks of trespassing, hunting, and logging. Our staff is essential to implement conservation projects and protect the reserves from outside, therefore objectives for this proposal were to ensure that during COVID: 1. Operating costs of Buenaventura, Jorupe and Yanacocha Reserves are fully funded. 2. Staff of these reserves are fully funded so that we can maintain our boots-on-the-ground for patrolling of reserve boundaries and so that guards can continue monitoring programs for threatened species. 3. Reserve managers are fully funded to ensure that they can provide support and guidance to field staff and oversee the logistics of reserve protection.
