Community composition of dung beetles, with rare and endangered species in forest fragments of tropical karst ecosystems in Vietnam
By investigating dung-beetle communities across spatially separated karst ecosystems in North and Central Vietnam, our project aims (1)To give indications on the conservation value of the forest fragments in tropical karst ecosystems for dung-beetle conservation. (2). To evaluate the population status of the new dung-beetle species that have been discovered recently in karst ecosystems of Vietnam. (3). To determine rare and endangered dung-beetle species that strictly depend on the droppings of endemic and threatened mammals in tropical karst ecosystems. (4). To describe the diversity of dung beetles (alpha and beta diversity). (5). To enhance capacity building and raise awareness among local stakeholders (e.g., park staffs, local community, tour guides, etc.) in conserving kart dung beetles.
