Investigating the distribution and threats to the Fishing cat (Prionailurus viverrinus) in selected districts of Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab provinces of Pakistan
The data and information that will be produced as a result of this survey will help in designing a new detailed distribution map for the Fishing cat in Pakistan.
Investigating the background of each record will also help in identifying the threats to the Fishing cat and initiating a threat reduction program for the conservation of this feline. The main objective of this project is to form the basis of fishing cat conservation in Pakistan.
The main objectives are to
1) Prepare the fishing cat distribution map in Pakistan
2) Identify the threats to the Fishing cat in Pakistan
3) Initiate fishing cat conservation education in Pakistan amongst relevant stakeholders; government bodies, rural communities, etc.
