Integrated strategy for the mitigation of threats to güiñas (Leopardus guigna) in the Rivers and Lakes Districts of Southern Chile

The main objectives of the present grant are: to reduce the threat of retaliatory killing by preventing the depredation of poultry by güiñas, to be achieved through the repair or construction of predator-proof chicken coops; to reduce the threat of infectious disease transmission from domestic cats and dogs by improving their general health status through vaccination and deparasitation campaigns; to reduce the threat of infectious disease transmission from domestic cats and dogs by contributing to population control in a neutering campaign; to reduce the threat of roadkill by engaging the local community in our #LentoPorLaFauna (#SlowForWildlife) roadkill mitigation campaign in order to build political pressure for the implementation of road management policies that consider wildlife.
