Protection of Cambodia's coastal Irrawaddy dolphin through research, conservation, and outreach.

Main objective:

Kep and Kampot’s Irrawaddy dolphin population are actively protected, bringing about an increase in population and ecosystem health.

 

Secondary objective(s):

1. To fill knowledge gaps on Kep and Kampot’s Irrawaddy dolphin population.

2. To increase Government Official’s and fisher’s knowledge and appreciation of Kep and Kampot’s Irrawaddy dolphins, and their importance within the ecosystem.

 

Project activities: 

1.1 land surveys from vantage points across the study area;

1.2 boat surveys each month, covering the study area.

 

2.1. produce conservion suggstions to protect identified Irrawaddy dolphin critical habitats. 

2.2. share knowledge gained with the Cambodian Government and Kampot fishing communities.
