Field survey, ecology and conservation genetics to the rescue of the critically endangered Stream Siredon (Ambystoma leorae).
The Stream Siredon (Ambystoma leorae, Ambystomatidae) is a critically endangered amphibian that we know it actually from only three populations (streams) and a total specie census of <300 individuals. This situation bring us to designee a conservation project with a combination of biological (ecological and genetic) and social perspectives with the general objectives of:
· Determine the Stream Siredon distribution.
· Study their habitat use and preference.
· Study their population genetics and fine spatial genetics.
· Coordinate a community-monitoring group to do monitoring, vigilance and manage from this critically endangered specie.
