This project will be focussed to examine the basic biological study on the current population, to save Caridina linduensis in their natural habitat, such as (i) assessment their population density (ind/m2), population structure (ratio males and females), and determining the number of ovigerous females and juvenile to know their breeding season. This project will also provide (ii) a conservation strategy based on multiple approaches. (a) Determine the life history of this species through breeding the ovigerous female in the laboratory and then study the reproductive strategy such as the number of eggs per brood, eggs size, and larval development to estimate the time required by the larva in each stage to grow up. (b) Build an artificial spawning ground in each site where the population density was high. (c) Initiate an education program involving the local community/NGO through seminars to build up their awareness of how important to protect the habitat of aquatic fauna for human sustainability and program of "release back the larva of shrimps to the lake". 

The preliminary survey was made on June 04-05th, 2022, with the following goals:

1. Permit to the head village
2. Access to Lake Lindu
3. Boat and local guide
4. Preliminary sampling

The first fieldwork took place between June 10-12th, 2020, in five locations surrounding Lake Lindu, i.e., Uwe Rawa (the outlet), Anca Village, Tomado Village, Langko Village, and Pulau Bola (Bola Island). This fieldwork provided the primary data on the population for June and collected the ovigerous females for breeding program.
