The project purpose is to protect and mitigate chemical usage in priority frog habitat. This will be achieved by: 1. Raising conservation awareness about the plight of the target species. (we will work with local farmers to deliver three conservation outreaches in two different communities) 2. Mapping priority C. manengouba habitats across Mount Manengouba together with local communities. This will be achieved by mapping all critical habitats of the frog based on field survey data using Quantum GIS ) 3. Establishing a riparian buffer along priority C. manengouba habitat in collaboration with local stakeholders. This will be achieved by working with local land owners to set some of their lands along streams (priority frog habitat) for conservation of the species. 4. Establishing a long-term monitoring program for C. manengouba. We will train carefully selected community members and work with them to monitor population of the target species on the mountain. Population study design and data analysis will be made on the N-mixture modelling techniques. Thus, several repeat counts will be conducted and data analysed by accounting for imperfect detection.
