This project will promote the demographic and genetic rescue of one of the last northern muriquis population of the Ibitipoca region, through the management of solitary males and females of other populations, which are in equally critical and unviable situations. The strategies adopted involve the rescue, containment and transfer of two males and two females to a enriched enclosure, where they will be temporarily confined. The purpose is that under these conditions these individuals have greater opportunities to associate, and to form a cohesive social group with reproductive potential. Allied to this, genetic and health diagnoses of the managed individuals will be performed; monitoring after transfer; collecting behavioral data and studies on the fertility of individuals through hormonal analyzes of females and the potential of male semen and, finally, to increase scientific knowledge on management for the conservation of the species.
