Tackling threats to endangered felids in the buffer zone connecting two key Parks of the vanishing dry Brazilian Caatinga domain
Our project aims to conserve the endangered savanna tiger-cat (Leopardus tigrinus) in Brazil’s Caatinga, focusing on the Capivara-Confusões corridor, where deforestation from agribusiness and energy projects threatens its survival. We monitor populations, promote habitat connectivity, and combat disease transmission from domestic animals. MBZ Fund support enables vaccination campaigns and expanded monitoring, ensuring the long-term survival of this rare felid in a highly threatened ecosystem.
