Conservation of Alsodes pehuenche: critically endangered amphibian of the Central Andean wetlands (Malargüe, Mendoza, Argentina)
The main objective is to promote the conservation of A. pehuenche by monitoring known populations and improving knowledge of the distribution of the species in Argentina. The monitoring of the Pehuenche Valley populations has been carried out since 2021 and is intended to be maintained annually. To achieve this we have the collaboration of volunteers and students during the campaigns. To improve the knowledge of new distribution sites, the relationship and participation of local families is crucial, because they are the ones who for generations have taken cattle to graze in the wetlands in the summer and may have relevant information. But it is not only intended to ask them for information, but also to benefit them with horses and pay for guides to explore new basins and explore possible new locations of presence and/or absence of the frog.
