Where are the Moms? Mapping ovigerous females of S. spinifrons as a baseline for conservation strategies in the Maullin River.

This project will generate knowledge about the habitat preferences of reproductive females of S. spinifrons and define priority areas for its conservation.

For this purpouse, we aim to:

1) Estimate the spatial distribution of S. spinifrons along the Maullín River (freshwater section), with emphasis on ovigerous females. 2) Characterize the habitat of S. spinifrons in terms of structural and composition of riparian vegetation. 3) Identify priority areas for conservation, mainly focused on reproductive traits. 4) Develop a community engagement strategy based on the conservation and cultural values of this species.
