Ecological survey and community base conservation initiatives of Endangered Bengal slow loris in northeast Bangladesh

The goal of the project is to remove the knowledge gap and support the forest department in the formulation of effective conservation strategies for the Endangered Bengal slow loris in northeast Bangladesh. Specific objectives are given below: 1. To investigate the feeding and ranging ecology of Bengal slow loris by collaring radio transmitters in four lorises in two different forest patches. 2. To investigate the local people’s attitudes towards Bengal slow loris in selected sites. 3. To engage multi-level stakeholders to protect the loris and its remaining habitats through assessing their perceptions and a series of consultation programs. 4. To support Bangladesh Forest Department in setting species-specific conservation priorities by giving ecological and threat-oriented information and organizing regional workshops.
