In this study, we monitored 5 carcass dumping sites in Uttarakhand. Road transect surveys were also conduted in low lying districts of Uttarakhand to identify vulture populations and nesting locations of the target species. During the surveys we found 67 dead raptors including 48 Himalayan Vultures, 6 Egyptian Vultures, 1 Cinereous Vulture and 12 Steppe Eagles. Most of these raptors were electrocuted due to powerlines. We conducted education and awareness sessions in Dehradun for the stakeholders. Major findings during the was discovery of nesting colony of White-rumped Vultures and Egyptian Vultures in the study area. Next steps would be to secure the feeding and roosting areas of the nesting population of these birds.
