Lost frog in Kenya…still lost.

Petropedetes dutoiti is endemic to Mt. Elgon Kenya. However, the frog has not been seen in the wild since 1962. Ms Beryl Akoth Bwong (National Museums of Kenya) hopes to change that. Ms Bwong has completed her first efforts, and recently reported her results to the Fund. Read more after the jump….

“From this survey we cannot confirm whether the P. dutoiti is still present in Mt. Elgon ecosystem or  not. We therefore plan for a more comprehensive search for the frog when the rains have subsided and the rivers and streams will be more accessible. We also plan to conduct both day and night searchers unlike in the current study where we only conducted searchers during the day.” reported Beryl Akoth Bwong.

Good luck in your next efforts
