Conservation of small cat species in Sri Lanka through community based conservation and research

1. Conduct basic surveys to identify problematic areas 2. Problem/threat analysis 3. Identify the role of small cats in human dominated landscapes 4. Conduct awareness campaigns to educate the community 5. Introduction of "cat-friendly" methods of livestock management 6. Conduct awareness camps for school children and university students 7. Establishment of small cat active groups in schools (Little Paw Clubs) 8. Conduct art exhibitions and stage dramas promoting small cat conservation among school children 9. Establishment of a non-profit organization for small cat conservation 10. Providing plastic cages for wild life rescue units to handle small cats and establishing new enclosure for the captive treatment and handling of wild cats in main wildlife veterinary units in Sri Lanka 11. Estimate the current fishing cat presence in Colombo’s urban wetlands during city development practices, using camera traps and radio telemetry 12.Obtaining permission to expand fishing cat road sign throughout the country
