Mission of the organization : To manage a gene pool of all crocodilians and Indian turtles, education of the public, and to engage in research both in the field and on-site at the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust. The primary aims of the MCBT are to promote the conservation of reptile and amphibian diversity through education, scientific research and captive breeding. Our efforts are focused on, but are not limited to, Indian species and ecosystems and include both in situ and ex situ components. Objectives of the organization: Captive breeding of reptiles for reintroduction programs, education of the public via outreach and exsitu programs, training programs for husbandry and management. Date of establishment: 20th August 1975 Geographical area of the project : South India, states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala Target species/habitats covered by the organization: Pelochelys cantorii, Nilssonia leithii
