Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation (Project No. 0925524) - Golden coqui - Awarded $19,166 on July 13, 2010

Our proposal is to conduct an Amphibian Ark Conservation Needs Assessment Workshop (http://www.amphibianark.org/conservation_needs_workshops.htm) for the entire Caribbean region. The workshop will be facilitated by an AArk Taxon Officer and led by the Caribbean Regional Co-Chairs of the IUCN/SSC Amphibian Specialist Group.

As in other AArk Conservation Needs Assessment Workshops, the IUCN specialist will assemble a similar team of ~15 experts to that which led the original 2004 amphibian assessment, but this time with a goal of updating the information and assessing and prioritizing conservation actions for all taxa. The group will utilize established protocols to evaluate 156 threatened and Data Deficient species from throughout the Caribbean.

The results of this workshop will be posted online, along with those of other countries/regions, at the Amphibian Ark portal (http://www.amphibianark/assessmentresults.htm) where partnerships between range-country institutions and outside supporters can develop programs for the highest priority species.

Our target date for this workshop is March 2011.
