Our group, Tiaro and District Landcare Group was established in September 1996. The objectives of our group is to: • create awareness of responsible management and conservation practices required to maintain a balanced ecosystem; • to increase awareness of our local environment so that it is valued by our local community; • to cooperate with other organisations including government agencies, businesses, Educational bodies and other community groups to achieve our objectives. Geographical area of project: • the main trunk of the Mary River in south east Queensland, Australia where the main nesting banks are located Target species: • The endangered Mary River turtle, Elusor macrurus • Terrestrial nesting banks in the riparian zone and adjacent pools in the river
