The project aims to conserve Rhampholeon acuminatus by developing an action plan and providing education to local communities around Nguru mountains. It builds on the previous project (222529461) that assessed the population size, distribution, and threats to the conservation of Rhampholeon acuminatus. This project will engage stakeholders through meetings and discussions to understand conservation needs and priorities in Nguru mountains. A detailed action plan will be developed based on the input collected and research findings, focusing on habitat protection, monitoring, community engagement, and capacity building. Habitat management measures will be implemented in collaboration with local communities to address threats such as farming of cardamom that has significantly reduced the suitable habitat for this chameleon. Conservation education will be conducted to raise public awareness and promote sense of conservation responsibility among local communities, schools, and other stakeholders. These initiatives include workshops, training sessions, educational materials, and outreach activities. Overall, this project seeks to ensure the successful conservation of Rhampholeon acuminatus through collaborative efforts and community engagement.
