Continuing conservation action through the pandemic: ensuring survival of endangered species, protection of habitats, and access to education.

Mohamed bin Zayed Species Conservation (Project No. 212526417) - Pilar tuco-tuco - Awarded $10,000 on October 28, 2021

With traveling and other restrictions in place due to Covid-19, Para La Tierra’s normal funding sources have been drastically reduced and PLT is running on a shoestring budget. The project seeks to help cover the organization’s core costs by paying it’s invaluable scientific, education and administrative staff an appropriate wage, keep the PLT headquarters running and make urgent repairs on the PLT car, as well as restart a number of projects. These projects include the research and conservation of the understudied Pilar tuco-tuco, a micro-endemic burrowing rodent, as well as working towards the long term protection of the Neembucu Wetland complex. The project will also help PLT restart education and community activities once covid-19 restrictions are lifted.
